The benefits and why it is good for the skin...
Microneedling, or collagen induction therapy, is a skin rejuvenation treatment that helps reduce fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, large pores, UV damage, and uneven skin tone. This procedure works by creating tiny micro-injuries in the top layer of the skin, stimulating collagen and elastin production. Multiple sessions are typically recommended for the best results.
Before the Procedure:
A thorough consultation with a qualified aesthetician is essential. They will evaluate your skin, review your health history, and discuss your goals. It's also an opportunity to ask about risks, pain levels, results timeline, downtime, and treatment frequency. You may be advised to use vitamin A or C creams a month before to help boost collagen production.
Microneedling is not suitable for
- active acne or are on acne medication.
- blood disorders or are using anticoagulants.
- Are undergoing chemotherapy or radiation for cancer.
- Experience frequent skin rashes or cold sores.
- Have a tendency to form keloid scars (raised scars).
- Have changing moles, freckles, or skin tags.
- Conditions like eczema or psoriasis.
During the procedure:
The aesthetician will cleanse your skin and apply serums. At LF Beauty Skin, we don't use numbing cream for epidermal treatments but may do so for deeper treatments. An electric device with adjustable needle lengths will puncture your skin, creating a warming, sometimes scratchy sensation. Some may experience slight discomfort near bony areas, and minor bleeding can occur.
Post-Procedure Care:
After microneedling, your aesthetician will guide you on managing redness and swelling and recommend appropriate skincare products. Most people require several treatments spaced three to eight weeks apart, with results typically visible in three to six months.
